Zikhona Sodlaka will take her minor steps as a Gospel singer in Me relaunch concert next month at the Lyric Theatre in Johanessburg.
In the past 11 years, the actress has taken on many roles, for the small screen. Just a few months ago, Zikhona Sodlaka was among the 16 actors who were fired from the country’s biggest soap, Generations.
After some time from the spotlight, the actress has put the saga behind her and is back on small screen, but this time only as a singer not an actress.
However, the 30 year old Long Walk To Freedom actress and former Generations star was rather quick to disregard any suggestions of a career change into a gospel powerhouse.
She said she was doing it for fun.’I’m not a gospel singer. I’m not recording anything in studio. I was just invited to gospel event and I accepted. I’m not looking into a career in music, I’m just someone who can hold a note,” she said.
Sodlaka said she looking forward to the event, which has in the past featured musicians like Zakes Bantwini and Kelly Khumalo.
Sodlaka will will share the stage with The Soil, Beyond Vocal, Tribute ‘Birdie’ Mboweni and newcomer Jobie Clarke on the night. Mulaudzi will be the MC. The concept by Native Rhythm records has been televised on SABC2 for the past three years.
Zikhona says that she is aware that this is a big platform.
