Some recovering addicts say there is a cure for alcohol and substance abuse victims and it starts with asking for help.
Recovering addicts shared their stories as victims of drug abuse with
delegates attending the official opening of the state-of-the-art
Seshego Treatment Centre by Limpopo MEC for Social Development Mapula
Mokaba-Phukwana at Seshego Hospital on Tuesday.
Mokaba-Phukwana was joined by Limpopo MEC for Health Dr Phophi
Ramathuba, Seshego police commander Major General Sam Mokgonyana and
representatives from different organisations as well as community
members.
Andrew Kgwadi says drug abuse caused him to disconnect with the true
meaning of life after having smoked all types of drugs for 19 years.
The 38-year-old says quitting drug abuse is not an easy journey but
with self determination and prayer he managed to pull through and has
been clean for more than a year.
William Baloyi says he decided to quit using drugs in 2016 after he lost two of his friends to nyaope.
Baloyi says it is important that parents and communities expresss
love to drug addicts because that is one thing that they are searching
for when they get involved in drugs.
