The church is being encouraged to hold dialogues on HIV/AIDS to help fight the disease.
This remark has been made by the chairperson of the men’s forum at the Apostolic Faith Mission at Dzimauli outside Thohoyandou who recently disclosed his HIV status
The 54-year-old Hendrick Vele is encouraging religious people diagnosed with HIV to faithfully take their antiretroviral treatment instead of believing they will be healed through prayer.
Vele says when he found out he had HIV , he spent a lot of money on traveling to different pastors , seeking prayers to kill the virus in his system, but he was left disappointed because his status remained unchanged.
He says not even anointing oil healed him, but when he started using ARVs, he saw an improvement in his health and never looked back.
Vele says his experience of being on ARV drugs has been rewarding as it has helped supress the viral load.
