Pinkie Maimela was born and raised at Ga-Moshakga, small village in Modajadji area in Limpopo. A friendly young lady who has worked to go on star in the modeling/fashion world. She is a humble lady who is laying claim to being the young rising super model. Pinkie has also made her appearance on Soweto TV and SACBC 1’s Generations. Who is your role model and how does the person inspire you in choosing modeling as a career?
My role model is my late grandmother, who was also a model back in Lesoto. She has inspired me to always follow my dreams.
Are you currently studying or do you model full time?
I’m studying at Rosebank college.
How do you cope with the pressure of juggling modeling and your studies?
Over the years I’ve learned to compromise and I make time for everything.
What beauty tips do you swear by?
Keep fit and eat healthy, use less makeup and drinks lots of water.
If you were not a model what other profession would you have been instead?
I would have been a lawyer, but I also wanted to be a Nun.
How do you feel about the controversy of the size zero debate in the modeling industry and what size are you?
I’m a size six.
I think most of the times it leads to girls starving themselves just to make it. Girls who aspire to be models should be themselves and stay healthy, plus size or size zero just be yourself.
What did your parents think of you being a model were they supportive?
At first they were against the whole idea, they said it interfered with my school work. Because I had failed grade 11, but I picked myself up, now I have their full support.
How did you feel when you got your first big break?
I’ve been modeling since 2009, entering modeling competitions like miss Bolobedu. At one point I started to feel like things weren’t working out, But the Lord opened doors for me. So when I got more recognized I got excited and more passionate.
What accomplishments are you most proud of?
Modeling, I wanted to quit because of lack of support from my family. I’m signing with Rage by the end of this year, and I’m the main character in Mzansi magic‘s local movie “Innocent victim” which will also be showing sometime this year.
What motivates you?
Being broke is by far my greatest motivation. Having to wait for my parents to send me money. I don’t just sit there and wait, I go and hustle.
What heights are you hoping to push yourself onto?
I want to own a modeling agency and have a reality TV show in the near future.
What is your your favorite attribute about yourself?
My physical posture.
Who is your favorite designer?
My favorite designer is a good friend of mine, ‘Thabo Touch of Bling’. He is also an upcoming designer and he designs for Pearl Thusi as well.
Three products you cannot do without in your handbag.
Hand lotion, cellphone and lipstick.
