The ANC Youth League in KZN wants the party’s MPs who voted in favor of a motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma to leave the organization.
The league’s Thanduxolo Sabelo addressed an ANC Youth League eThekwini Region event at the Durban University of Technology yesterday. The lecture on economic freedom focused on land and mineral resources. Sabelo said MPs should not have acted on their personal feelings.
“We want to send a message to ANC members of parliament… Once it becomes about you and your personal feelings, do the noble thing and leave seat of the African National Congress,” he said.
Sabelo also called on National Assembly Speaker, Baleka Mbete, to probe whether money was used to influence how MPs voted.
“The party line must be towed. We are aware that during this motion of no confidence there was a lot of money that was spent. This is why we call upon the speaker of the National Assembly to investigate the influence of money on members of parliament,” Sabelo said.
