Residents in the Polokwane Local Municipality who disregard by-laws governing the use of fireworks this festive season could be fined up to R300.

Residents are not allowed to set off fireworks 500 metres from a factory with explosive materials and fuel storage depot or in a building.

They are also not allowed to discharge fireworks in a public place or resort without prior written permission.

The municipality’s Stakeholder Relations Officer Desree Manyane has also urged residents to use fireworks responsibly to avoid injuries or damage to property.
