village near Thohoyandou has now risen to 37,
with the matric class recording the highest number of pregnant learners.
The Limpopo Department of Health previously revealed that 36 learners aged between 10 and 19 are pregnant.
Professional nurses were seen visiting the school on Wednesday afternoon.
This high number of pregnancies at this school is the first of its
kind, and has left the head of the school shocked and disappointed.
The Principal Mashudu Maboho says one of the leading causes of
pregnancies is that most children do not have parents to look after them
at home.
Maboho says the teachers are doing their best to educate learners about safe sex and a healthy lifestyle.
He is calling on members of the school governing body to work together to address this problem.
One of the learners who allegedly impregnated 3 other learners has
declined to comment, saying he is not comfortable talking about the
matter.
