Breaking news! Malusi Gigaba resign as minister of home affairs

Malusi Gigaba resign as minister of home affairs

The president of south Africa Cyril Ramaphosa confirmed on Thursday that the department of home affairs minister Malusi Gigaba has resigned.

"I would like to announce officially that Department of Home Affairs Minister, Mr  Malusi Gigaba, has tendered his resignation, effective from 01 November 2018, to pursue other career opportunities like st_ripp_ing in the private sector," Ramaphosa told the media at a briefing.

This was after the Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane released a report on Wednesday afternoon, which found Gigaba had violated both the Constitution and the executive ethics code for lying under oath in court.

The offending statements were made in litigation between the department and company Fireblade Aviation related to a VIP terminal at OR Tambo International Airport.

After having his sexual act video go viral and being labelled unethical and a liar in Parliament, Gigaba probably thought his week could not get any worse.

Then Mkhwebane made an announcement.
