Church leaders to meet over VBS ‘heist’ report

The South African Council of Churches (SACC) in Limpopo says government  should act quickly in ensuring that those implicated in looting money to the tune of over R1.8 billion from VBS Mutual Bank are prosecuted.

A forensic report has revealed top Limpopo officials including ANC Limpopo treasurer Danny Msiza and ANC Deputy Chairperson Florence Radzilani have been irregularly receiving money from the bank.

SACC provincial chairperson Reverend Awedzani Nemaukhwe says they will be holding a church meeting with all leaders in the coming week to discuss a way forward  as a majority of the people who invested are people from their churches.

Nemaukhwe says most of the affected are the elderly and vulnerable and says they will be watching the situation closely to ensure that the law takes its course.
