Private use of dagga is legal, Concourt rules

An adult in South Africa is now allowed to use dagga or cannabis in a private place.

The Constitutional Court has unanimously upheld the Western Cape High Court ruling that the private use of dagga is legal.
Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo says the judgement doesn’t specify the amount that can be used by an adult in private use.
He says this must be determined by parliament which now has 24 months to change a section of the medicine controls act.
