The Gazankulu Liberation Congress is threatening to shut down
services in Giyani on Wednesday, as it believes that calls for service
delivery are not being considered.
The Congress handed over a memorandum of demands to the Greater
Giyani Local Municipality in July, and gave the municipality 21 days to
respond.
Among other demands, the Congress is calling for construction of
public toilets, stalls for hawkers in Giyani town and that the
municipality recover the money invested in VBS Mutual Bank.
But municipal spokesperson, Steven Mabunda says the given deadline has not yet lapsed.
President for the Congress Themba Chabani says there hasn’t been any communication from the municipality since July.
Chabani says this means that the municipality is not willing to resolve the issues at hand
