VBS clients queue at Nedbank ATM'S to get their cash

Nedbank is continuing to facilitate withdrawals for VBS clients in various branches including Thohoyandou and Louis Trichart. Many people slept outside VBS and made their way to various branches on Friday, despite Nedbank’s assurance that they can still access their money during the course of the next three years. The queue kept on getting shorter and shorter with some people saying they will move their funds to other banks. Johanna Mukosi told Capricorn FM news that she is not comfortable with the money being transfered to a Nedbank account as she would like to see hard cash and deposit it into another bank account herself.
Divisional Executive for Retail and Banking at Nedbank, David Schwegmann says they are not stopping anyone from making withdrawals. Schwegmann says the frustration of some VBS retail depositors earlier on Friday may have been as a result of people not having the correct documentation for their enquries to be processed. Nedbank is closing its doors at 6’clock on Friday evening and will close at 3 o’clock on Saturday to accommodate VBS retail depositors.
