Believe in yourself

Inspiration
Spread the news here!

I wrote a story a couple of days back titled “Less is more” aimed to motivate people to fully appreciate the little they’ve got.

Right after posting the piece online, my mind developed negative thoughts of the story not being good enough to the stage where I successfully got convinced that my writing isn’t that good

I couldn’t bear the thought of failure and without even having to realise the kind of negativity I was feeding my mind at the time, I quickly trashed the piece. Yes! Straight to the bin it went.

“I did not challenge myself enough”, those were words from me to a dear friend who couldn’t understand why I trashed the post.

Without any waste of time he quickly sent to me some of the positive comments from people who were able to read the post before it got trashed. God knows how joyful I were to hear such positive remarks.

Could it have been that I believe not in myself? Or was it just an excuse to avoid failure? I wonder.

With those question playing in my mind, I made a choice to give some time to myself in order to figure out what could have possibly triggered those kind of emotions.

I then realised how off I were to even expect support from the outside whereas I didn’t even know what it means to do so for myself

I have come to learn that every single thing in life begins with ourselves, that we are the ones to show people how to treat us by how we treat ourselves.

It’s not even supposed to be about perfection or even being good enough before the eyes of my readers but about trusting myself enough to do what I really want despite the fear of failure.

A very wise man once said “Most of us are hesitant to start anything because we are afraid we might make a mistake or fail. Go ahead and make .Mistakes!’

I couldn’t agree more with this man because failure/ mistakes are not the enemy here, in fact every single one of us should be in a position of understanding that failure is by far the best teacher of them all. And that it’s far way better to fail knowing that you’ve at least tried your level best.

The wise man continued to say “You will never have enough money, enough time, enough SUPPORT, or experience to start. But once you muster up the courage to take that giant step forward and start, the rest will fall into place.”
Not everyone will praise you for a job well done and waiting for an applause to go on with your job is simply living to impress others.

With that being said; Know that the best gift you can ever give yourself is to be confident with who
what you are as well as where you are in life.

Imperfections are what makes you beautiful at the end of the day, so feed not your mind with thoughts that does not build or support you.

At the and of it all.. I was able to understand what Rene G meant when he said
“You do not have to wait for more experience or to be good to start. You do not have to be good to start, but you have to start to be good.”

And if there is anything to learn from what I’ve said, it is that fear stops not excuses but taking action does.
